Requirements for the Occupation

A total of 30 months of full-time employment experience in Canada

If you join the Alberta credential programme after October 1, 2018, you must comply with the following requirements:
A postgraduate certificate approved by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation; and
Do work that is relevant to your studies.
Applicant must have a Post-Graduation Work Permit to apply.
An authorised Alberta educational certificate from an Advanced Education–approved Alberta post-secondary school and a minimum of six months of full-time work experience within the last 18 months in the applicant’s current occupation in the province. A one-year post-graduate certificate must also be connected to the applicant’s previous undergraduate or graduate field of study in Canada if the applicant has completed an Advanced Education-approved certificate.
In addition to the deadlines mentioned above, the following work experience is required:
The work experience must have been at least 30 hours per week and in the same field as the applicant’s “current occupation.” It must have been approved by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada and completed in Alberta or Canada with valid temporary resident status. It cannot be completed while the applicant is in Canada studying and doing co-op work placements or internships as part of a study programme.
It is permissible for holders of a Post-Graduation Work Permit with work experience from a paid co-op placement to use that experience to meet the work requirement. These applicants must meet the following conditions:
- The paid co-op work term must have been a full-time, uninterrupted period (minimum 30 hours per week).
- A Post-Graduation Work Permit holder’s “present occupation” must be closely related to their work experience.
Budgetary Constraints
Before applying for this programme, you must have enough money to maintain yourself and your family. Your family consists of the following:
Children under the age of 22 who are not married and who are financially dependent on you, as well as your spouse or common-law partner
