Canada visa delay: India issues guidelines for students waiting to join Sept courses
The Indian Embassy in Canada has issued guidance for students who wish to study in the nation. Thousands of students wait anxiously for visas to travel there for higher education.
The Indian government said in a statement that its consulates in Toronto and Vancouver, as well as its embassy in Ottawa, “continue to engage with relevant Canadian interlocutors, including Canadian academic institutions and universities, regarding problems faced by Indian students due to delay in visa issue.”
The embassy has requested that the Canadian authorities speed up the processing of visa applications for students from India in light of the problems and the fact that Indian students have already placed tuition payments with Canadian institutions.
A recent media report states that as of August 15, over 75,000 study permit applications from Indian nationals were waiting to be processed.
An Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) representative told Hindustan Times that the Canadian government would prioritise students whose classes began in September while extending the remote learning option for another year until August 31, 2023.

According to the most recent information on the High Commission’s website, Canadian educational institutions reported to the embassy that they had spoken with the Canadian Ministry of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship to express their displeasure with the lengthy wait times for student visas.

Certificate of Acceptance in Québec

Statement by the Custodian (minor children)
Include the Custodianship Declaration form (PDF, 1.02 MB) with your application if the minor will need a guardian. The document includes 2 pages and must be notarised (certified by a notary) before being submitted with an application for a student visa.
The Canadian custodian must sign the first sheet, and the second page must be signed by the minor’s parents or legal guardians in their home country.
